I was born in Georgetown, Guyana. As a child, I was raised by a loving and active Great-Grandmother Maude Barry, who made it her duty to instill in me the love of our Lord Jesus Christ. She made sure that I learned to place him foremost every day and in everything I do.

At the tender age of 15 while at a lay crusade, I recognized the Lord as my Savior and heeded his call to baptism. This experience along with the morals and values instilled in me by my great-grand mother gave me the zeal to serve the Lord even more, the discipline to aspire to greater things and the courage to embrace change.

In 1990 I joined my mother in the USA and immediately sought the comfort of the Lord at the closest Seventh Day Adventist Church, the Church of the Oranges. I found my way with divine help through West Side High School in Newark. Later, I attended William Paterson University where I successfully completed my Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with concentration in Management in 1996. I was hired immediately after graduation as a Program Assistant in the Financial Aid Office at William Paterson University.

Even so, my relationship with God was shaken and there would be hard lessons to be learned about straying too far from his house. I had allowed people who did not value the love of the Lord to crowd Him into the background and followed them in a lifestyle that did not reflect my true faith. Still the Lord did not abandon me. It was after my beautiful son was born that I realized Jesus had been with me every step of the way and had kept me safe from destructive relationships.

In March 2003, with a renewed spirit, I turned to God and invited him into my life again...He had never left and now He has shown me true his mercies. Recently I was promoted to Assistant Director of Student Employment at the Financial Aid Office of William Paterson University. Today, I'm happy to say I am still with the Seventh Day Adventist Church of the Oranges and my faith has been restored.
