D. Robert Kennedy, STM; Ed.D; PhD
- Dr. D. Robert Kennedy is the Senior Pastor of The Seventh-day Adventist Church of the Oranges, 270 Reynolds Terrace in Orange, New Jersey. He has carried a very effective ministry in this church since 2006. He has been in various aspects of ministerial service since 1971. His ministerial service has extended from Jamaica to Canada and across the United States. He has served in such places as Central Jamaica Conference, Greater New York Conference, the SDA Church in Canada, Atlantic Union College and now Allegheny East Conference of Seventh-day Adventist. He has also served as adjunct professor for a number of Graduate Schools and seminaries, including The SDA Theological Seminary, at Andrews University, Berrien Springs, Michigan; Union University in Cincinnati, Ohio; Trinity Seminary in Newburgh, Indiana, NorthWest University, Greenwich School of Theology, in England.
- His 41 years in ministry has been effectively divided into four significant phases: namely, pastoring, teaching, administration and workshop training in the areas of Stewardship, Leadership and Evangelism. Throughout his career, he has carried a very heavy travel schedule as a preacher, leadership trainer and seminar/workshop presenter, in places such as Canada, England, Ghana, West Africa, Venezuela, South America, and the Caribbean and across the United States. “Along with his wife Dr. S. June E. Kennedy, who is a Special Education teacher and professor from Elementary school through the University level, he has presented workshops in the areas of Parental Legacy; Parental Advocacy; The Legacy of Faith, and the Legacy of Love. Their many years of experience together in ministerial services and teaching have made them very effective in the presentation of the latter issues for the strengthening of churches and families.
- Dr. Kennedy is a graduate of Northern Caribbean University in Jamaica, Andrews University, SDA Theological Seminary, in Michigan; McGill University in Montreal, Canada; Columbia University, in Manhattan, New York, and Greenwich University in Hawaii. He holds an undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate degrees in theology, religious studies and education. He also holds certifications in Individual Crisis Intervention and Peer Support and Survival Skills for Youth, Men and Workforce.
- He has written eight books, many articles; book chapters in the areas of Diversity Management and Effective Pastoral Ministry. His last published works, Silence of the Soul: A Contemporary Reflection on Themes from the Book of Revelation, and along with his wife, Parental Advocacy: Empowering Parents to Act on Behalf of their Children.
- Dr. D. Robert Kennedy and his lovely wife, Dr. S. June Kennedy, are celebrating 42 years of marriage this year. Together they have three sons who were nurtured through Seventh-day Adventist education and have remained faithful in the church. The Kennedys cherish their three daughters-in-law and six fantastic grand children.
- Dr. Kennedy has enjoyed every aspect of his ministry. He uses prayer as the frontal attack agency of his ministry. His only desire is to be an effective servant of Jesus Christ, helping people to be readied for the Second Coming of Christ. As an expression of his commitment and conviction to the Father’s will, he likes to join Job in saying, “Though he slays me, yet will I trust in him.” (Job 1:15).
